An encouraging report was celebrated at Doctors For You Today.

According to a joint report released by UN food agencies this month , India saw a 6.5% DROP in the number of people who suffer from chronic hunger. During the 2008-2010 period as many as 22.86 crore people were undernourished in this country , and today this number has fallen to 21.38 crore. These statistics only prove that we are on the right path and that all hard work eventually bears fruit. DFY is committed to achieving the UN Millennium Development Goal of “eradicating extreme poverty and hunger” as we believe good nutrition lays the foundation for good health. Much work however remains to be done if we are to achieve this goal by 2015 , and we thank all our volunteers and donors for having supported thus far. We urge you to contribute in any way you can.

Doctors For You celebrates The Joy Of Giving!

Doctors For You celebrates The Joy Of Giving!

The Joy of Giving Week represents a landmark event for Doctors For You , as it embraces the spirit of giving and helping those less fortunate than us , a cause that we have championed since our very inception as an organization.
The Joy of Giving Week will be celebrated from Oct 2nd – Oct 8th ; the week will be marked by numerous outreach activities conducted by several NGO’s and likeminded inviduals.
For our contribution this year, we have chosen to focus on Deworming and Vitamin A Supplementation for children.
Both of these are essential for the healthy and normal development of a child and are absolutely crucial to building immunity .
We will be conducting health camps at several different locations throughout the week , wherein we will educate all attendees on the importance of following a rigorous and timely deworming and vit A supplementation routine for their young.

The dates and locations are as follows :
Lallubhai Compound , Govandi – 2nd October
Ambedkar Nagar – 3rd October
Natwar Parikh Compound , Govandi – 4th October
Rafiq Nagar – 5th October
Shivaji Nagar – 6th October & 7th October

We invite all our members and volunteers to participate. More information can be found at www.joyofgivingweek.org

31st Aug – 1st Sep 2013 , Chunni Mangoli (Uttarakhand) Health Camp – 25 patients treated

We established our next camp within the village of Chunni Mangoli , in the Ukthimath Block of the Rudraprayag District . Our team of Dr. Prasant , Dr. Aditya K Kalyan , Mr. Isfakur Rahman & Mr. Kishlay Kant , travelled 15 km for over 4 hours to reach the site.

The activities of the camp were overseen and managed by Dr.Prasant & Dr. Kalyan.
We registered and tended to 25 patients , 16 of which were male (13 adults & 3 children) and 9 of which were female (8 adults & 1 child) within our morning OPD service.
We also established an interactive mini camp at the local school in Chunni Mangoli . This gave us a chance to speak to the children there individually and conduct thorough MUAC ( mid arm upper circumference ) tests and check for malnutrition. Reassuringly , not a single case was found.
We also gave the children in attendance a demonstration of the 6 step hand wash technique , and answered questions they had on personal hygiene.
Interviews with the local school teacher & ASHA worker (Ms. Meena Devi) revealed that most parents were meticulous with observing immunization schedules for their children.DFY
